Sodium Hydroxide

Sodium hydroxide(NaOH), commonly known as caustic soda, fire alkali, and caustic soda, is a strong alkali with strong corrosive properties. It has the appearance of flakes or particles. It is soluble in water and forms an alkaline solution. It is widely used in the field of water treatment.

Product Features

  • Physical properties: white translucent flaky solid, easily deliquescent (absorbing moisture from the air), easily soluble in water and violently exothermic, strong astringent taste and creamy feeling.
  • Chemical properties: It is strongly alkaline (0.1 mol/L solution pH≈13), highly corrosive, can react with acids, non-metallic oxides and some metals, and can occur

Main Advantages

  1. Extremely alkaline and efficient: when neutralizing acidic substances and adjusting the pH value, the reaction speed is fast and the effect is thorough, which is better than weakly alkaline products.
  2. Wide range of applications: it is widely used in chemical industry (synthetic detergents), textiles (cotton pulping), papermaking (fiber cooking), water treatment (removal of heavy metal ions) and other fields.
  3. Outstanding cost performance: raw materials are easy to obtain, the production process is mature, the alkaline efficiency per unit quality is high, and the cost advantage is obvious when used on a large scale.

Product Applications

  1. Sodium hydroxide can regulate the pH value of water bodies, neutralize the pH value, and prevent the pH of water bodies from being too high or too low, thereby improving the water environment.

  2. Sodium hydroxide can inhibit the proliferation and growth of bacteria, thereby acting as a disinfectant and killing bacteria and viruses in the water.

  3. Sodium hydroxide can be used to precipitate heavy metal ions in water.

  4. It assists in the removal of fluoride ions in sewage treatment.

  5. Sodium hydroxide, combined with polyaluminum chloride, polyaluminum sulfate, aluminum sulfate, and ferric chloride, can form the effect of precipitation of hydroxides.

  6. Sodium hydroxide can be used to soften water and remove hard substances such as calcium and magnesium from the water. Demineralized water can reduce the formation of scale and extend the service life of water pipes.
