Glucose
Glucose is a vital carbon source in water treatment chemicals, primarily applied in denitrification and phosphorus removal of microbial, and microbial activation. It also provides more functions such as reducing COD and conditioning sludge.
- Fast Hydrolysis Rate
- Rapid Settling Rate
- Low Dosage Requirement
- Great Treatment Efficiency
- Help Reduce Costs
Glucose Description
Glucose is a typical carbon source in biological treatment processes for water purification, such as municipal wastewater denitrification, industrial effluent biochemical treatment, and landfill leachate processing. The metabolic activities of microbial rely on carbon sources (carbon-containing organic matter) as both an energy supply and raw material for cell synthesis.
When the water contains insufficient carbon, microbial activity declines, which will reduce the efficiency of denitrification and phosphorus removal. In such cases, artificial carbon sources must be used to facilitate the process of water biological treatment.

Glucose Applications
Industrial-grade Glucose
- Wastewater Treatment: Glucose provides a carbon source for wastewater to promote bacterial growth and enhance biodegradability, also effectively improves sludge affinity. When COD and BOD levels in water are insufficient for microbial growth and reproduction, supplemental glucose is required to prevent sludge aging and reduced biological activity. Industrial glucose requires a small dosage yet delivers excellent water treatment results, saving 10-20% costs compared to other coagulants.
- Reducing Agent: Used as a reducing agent in chemical silver plating processes in industries such as textile dyeing, leather manufacturing, mirror production, and other electroplating industries.
- Other Applications: Used as a cleaning agent for steel and glass, and in aluminum oxide coloring in the electroplating industries.
Food-grade Glucose
- Sucrose Substitute: Glucose is widely used in the food industry as a sugar substitute for sucrose.
- Fermentation Ingredient: In fermentation processes, glucose as a primary nutrient base is the main component of fermentation media.
- Vegetable Processing: As a nutrient and preservative, glucose plays an irreplaceable role in preserving and dehydrating vegetables.
- Pharmaceutical Industry: As a carbohydrate directly absorbable by the human body, glucose is available in oral and injectable forms. Oral glucose can be taken alone or as part of multivitamin glucose preparations. It is also used in pharmaceutical applications such as sugar coatings and syrups.
